The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Do not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, brush or floss for at least 30 minutes before collecting. [S1]
- Rinse your mouth with water, then wait 10 minutes. [S1]

Collection
Collect
- Collect saliva into the tube following the tube maker's instructions. [S1]
- Write your full name and date of birth on the sticker and put it on the tube. Unlabeled tubes are rejected. [S1]
- Complete every section of the requisition, including the collection date. [S1]

Right after collection
Processing
- No spin or freezing. Cap the tube and keep it at room temperature until shipping.

Get it to the lab
Shipping
- Put the capped tube in the biohazard bag and the requisition in the outside pocket. [S1]
- Put the bag in the kit box and seal the box in the FedEx Clinical Pak. [S1]
- Ship on the first available business day. Use a FedEx drop box (Monday to Friday) or call Customer Care to schedule a pickup. [S1]
