About this kit

The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Genova knows of no interfering medications. Don't change medications unless your provider says so. [G1]
- For 1 hour before each sample: no food, brushing, flossing, mouthwash, lip balm, gum or tobacco. Water only. [G1]
- If saliva is slow, press your tongue tip against your teeth, yawn, or think of sour foods. [G1]
- Synthetic, non-bioidentical hormones aren't detected. [G1]
- On hormone therapy: don't take hormones right before the morning sample. Dose after collecting unless told otherwise. Many clinicians test 8 to 12 hours after a dose. [G1]

Collection
Collect
- Label each tube with date of birth, collection date, and start and stop times. [G1]
- Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out completely. Don't cough or clear your throat into the tube. If there is visible blood, discard and recollect later. [G1]
- Fill the tubes in order, starting with Tube 1, to the fill level, at the times on your kit's chart. Tap on a hard surface to reduce foam. Insufficient samples can't be processed. [G1]
- Cap tightly and record the start and stop times. [G1]

Processing
- Put the tubes in the biohazard bag and freeze immediately, for at least 2 hours before shipping. [G1]

Get it to the lab
Shipping
- Put the biohazard bag with the frozen tubes in the collection box. [G1]
- Enter the collection date at gdx.net/activate (or gdx.net/mygdx) to get a confirmation code. Write it and the date on the activation card and put the card in the box. [G1]
- Close the box, place it in the FedEx bag, and ship Monday to Friday, avoiding US holidays. [G1]
