The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Don't eat, drink, smoke or chew gum for 30 minutes before. [Y1]
- 2
Collection
Collect
- Hold the tube upright. Unscrew the blue cap without touching the sponge. [Y1]
- Place the sponge as far back on the lower gums as possible and rub 10 times on that side, avoiding the teeth. [Y1]
- Put the sponge in the tube and close tightly. Repeat on the other side with the second swab. Using opposite sides means you don't need to wait 15 minutes between swabs. [Y1]
- Label the tubes. [Y1]
