The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Wait 30 minutes after eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum. [O1]
- Fasting isn't required for blood. [O1]
- 2
Collection
Collect
- Don't let the sponge tip touch anything. Swab the lower gums back and forth 10 times, then 10 more on the other side, avoiding teeth and lips. [O1]
- Hold the tube upright, unscrew the blue cap, insert the sponge, close tightly and shake 10 times. [O1]
- Label with collection date, name and date of birth without covering the barcode. Activate the kit before returning. [O1]

Right after collection
Processing
- Swab: ambient, stable 60 days at room temperature. [O1]
- Blood option: whole blood in a lavender EDTA tube, at least 1 mL, sent in the original tube, refrigerated, stable 3 weeks. [O1]

Does Speedy Sticks collect this sample?
No. Speedy Sticks only does venipuncture. We don't do capillary, fingerstick or self-collection.
Can I do a blood draw instead?
Yes. OneOme accepts a lavender EDTA tube with at least 1 mL. Speedy Sticks can do that draw. Book a mobile draw [O1]
How long is a swab stable?
