Overview
About this kit
MyMycoLab offers a mycotoxin antibody blood test. The kit ships to the patient or the practitioner within 24 to 48 hours of the order. [M3]
The test measures IgG and IgE antibodies to 14 mycotoxins, which gives 28 results from one blood draw. MyMycoLab uses ELISA methods. [M3][M4] Results come about 14 business days after the lab receives the sample. [M3] MyMycoLab tests people aged 2 and older. [M4]
The process
Step by step
- 1
Before the visit
Prep
- No fasting. You can eat and drink as usual. [M2][M4]
- Most medications and supplements don't affect the test. The exception is immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, and chemotherapy drugs: MyMycoLab says these should be stopped 6 to 8 weeks before testing, because they can cause false negatives. Talk to your prescriber before changing any medication. [M2]
- Fill out the patient section of the Test Request Form before the appointment. [M1]
- Don't book the draw until the kit arrives. [M2]
- Drink water beforehand, since it makes veins easier to find. [M2]
- 2
The draw
Draw
- Give the phlebotomist the instruction sheet from the kit before the draw. [M2]
- This is a standard venipuncture draw into the kit's collection tube. [M1][M2]
- Tube type, fill volume, and order of draw are not published online. Follow the instructions in your kit.

Right after collection

- Transfer at least 4 mL of serum into the screw-top transport tube. [M1][M5]
