NutrEval FMV

Genova Diagnostics is a specialty lab that ships collection packs directly to patients and providers. You activate the kit at gdx.net/activate. [P1][P2]

NutrEval FMV is Genova's nutritional panel. It uses a blood draw plus a first morning urine sample (and a cheek swab if your provider ordered genomic add-ons). For the full list of what it measures, see Genova's product page and your provider's order. [P1][P2]

1. 1

   Before the visit

   Prep

   • From Genova's patient guide: [P2]
   • 4 days before: talk to your provider about stopping medications and supplements. Genova notes valproic acid, acetaminophen, and berberine HCl can interfere with some results (discontinuing is at your physician's discretion). [P1]
   • 24 hours before: eat your usual diet, no extreme diets or overeating any one food. Drink no more than six 8-ounce glasses of fluid.
   • Night before: fast overnight (water is okay). Freeze the freezer brick for at least 8 hours. Brush and floss as normal, no mouthwash.
   • Morning of: collect your urine (and cheek swab if ordered) immediately on waking. Freeze the urine tubes for at least 2 hours before your blood draw. Do not collect if there is blood in your urine, including menstrual blood.
   • Bring the cardboard box and FedEx materials to your appointment.
   • You self-collect the urine. Your Speedy Sticks phlebotomist handles the blood draw only.

   The draw

   • Write the patient's date of birth and collection date on the labels and attach one to each of the 3 tubes returned to the lab.
   • Clean the skin thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and use only stainless steel needles. (Genova's UK guide adds: no iodine or mercury-based antiseptics, and no needles with an aluminum or other metal crimp ring.) [P3]
   • Draw blood into the blue-top, red SST, and lavender-top tubes.
   • Order of draw: Genova does not publish one. Follow the instructions in your kit.
   • Fill volumes: Genova does not publish them in the current guide. Follow the instructions in your kit.

   Right after collection

   Get it to the lab

   Shipping

   • From Genova's provider guide: [P1]
   • Confirm every tube has a completed label.
   • Put the frozen freezer brick and the biohazard bags with all tubes inside the foam insulator and replace the lid.
   • If ordered, put the sealed cheek swab envelope behind the foam insulator in the box.
   • Enter the final collection date at gdx.net/mygdx to get a confirmation code. Write it and the date on the activation card and place it in the box.
   • Seal the box in the FedEx bag and drop it at an authorized FedEx location. Ship Monday to Friday and avoid US holidays.
