About this kit
Genova Diagnostics is a specialty lab that ships collection packs to providers and patients. Tests are activated at gdx.net/mygdx or gdx.net/activate. [G1]
NutrEval Plasma is Genova's nutritional panel that uses plasma amino acids. It needs a blood draw plus a urine sample the patient collects at home. [G1]
The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Physician may stop medications 4 days before. Genova lists valproic acid, acetaminophen and berberine HCl as possible interferents. [G1]
- Fast overnight. Water is okay. Freeze the freezer brick at least 8 hours. [G1]
- Freeze the urine samples at least 2 hours before the blood draw. Abnormal kidney function or diuretics may affect results. [G1]

The draw
Draw
- Clean the skin thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and use only stainless steel needles. [G1]
- Draw the blue-top, SST, lavender and Na heparin tubes. Order of draw is not published. Follow the instructions in your kit.

Right after collection
Processing
- Finish all processing within 45 minutes. [G1]
- Blue-top trace mineral tube: invert 10 to 15 times, then refrigerate. [G1]
- SST: clot 15 min in a rack, spin 15 min at 3000 RPM, move the serum to the amber tube, then freeze. [G1]
- Lavender: invert 5 times, do not shake, then refrigerate. [G1]
- Na heparin: invert 10 to 15 times, spin 15 min at 3000 RPM, and move the plasma to the blue-top preservative tube. Shake that tube very hard for 10 to 20 seconds, spin 5 min at 2500 RPM, move the clear liquid to the yellow-top tube, then freeze. [G1]

Get it to the lab
Shipping
- Label every tube with the patient's date of birth and the collection date. [G1]
- Put the frozen freezer brick and the biohazard bag(s) with the tubes inside the foam insulator. [G1]
- Enter the collection date at gdx.net/mygdx to get a confirmation code. Write it and the date on the activation card and put the card in the box. [G1]
- Seal the box in the FedEx bag and drop it at an authorized FedEx location. Ship Monday to Friday and avoid US holidays. [G1]
