The process

Before the visit
Prep
- Don't use if you're allergic to lactulose or on a galactose or lactose restricted diet. Diabetics should use caution. Not for children under 25 pounds. If under 100 pounds, follow the blue bag instructions. [G1]
- Don't collect during an acute infection. [G1]
- Wait 4 weeks after a colonoscopy or barium enema, and 2 to 4 weeks after antibiotics, antifungals, Pepto-Bismol or herbal antimicrobials. [G1]
- 7 days before: no laxatives, stool softeners, bulking agents, or aluminum or magnesium hydroxide antacids. [G1]
- 24 hours before: follow the restricted diet on the guide (plain meat, fish, eggs, white rice, clear broth, oils). [G1]
- Collect early in the workweek and ship within 2 days. [G1]

- Follow the schedule closely. Puncture each tube only once, during a single exhale. [G1]
