The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Genova knows of no interfering medications. [G1]
- Drink no more than six 8-ounce glasses of fluid in the 24 hours before collection. [G1]
- If a cheek swab is ordered: brushing and flossing are okay the night before, but no mouthwash. On the morning, don't eat, brush, floss, use mouthwash, chew gum, or use tobacco or coffee before swabbing on waking. [G1]
- Premenopausal women checking ovulation: collect on cycle days 19 to 25. Peri or postmenopausal women and men can collect any day. Synthetic, non-bioidentical hormones aren't detected. [G1]
- On hormone therapy, keep dosing as usual unless told otherwise. [G1]
- Abnormal kidney function or diuretics may affect results. Don't collect if there is blood in the urine, including menstrual blood. [G1]

Collection
Collect
- Write your date of birth and the collection date on the labels and attach them to the tubes. [G1]
- Day 1: discard the first urine after rising, then collect all urine for 24 hours, including the first urine the next morning. [G1]
- Pour each urination into the jug and keep it refrigerated. Don't rinse the cup with tap water. [G1]
- Invert the jug 30 seconds (combine jugs if you used two), then pipette into the collection cup and cap it. [G1]
- Cheek swab (if ordered): scrape the inside of the cheek firmly with one cotton swab for at least 30 seconds, rotating it and avoiding excess saliva. Repeat with the second swab, air dry 15 to 20 minutes, and seal them in the paper envelope. [G1]

- Enter the collection date at gdx.net/activate (or gdx.net/mygdx) to get a confirmation code. Write it and the date on the activation card and put the card in the box. [G1]
