About this kit
Genova Diagnostics is a specialty lab that ships collection packs to providers and patients. Tests are activated at gdx.net/mygdx or gdx.net/activate. [G1]

The process
Step by step

Before the visit
Prep
- Physician may stop medications 4 days before. SAM-e and amino acid formulas may affect results. [G1]
- Fast overnight. Water is okay. Freeze the brick at least 8 hours. [G1]
- If the swab is ordered, collect it on waking, before eating or brushing. [G1]

The draw
Draw
- Clean the skin with isopropyl alcohol and use only stainless steel needles. [G1]
- Draw the 4 mL and 6 mL lavender tubes. [G1]
- 3
Right after collection
Processing
- Finish within 45 minutes. [G1]
- 4 mL tube: invert 5 times, do not shake, then refrigerate. [G1]
- 6 mL tube: invert 10 to 15 times, spin 15 min at 3000 RPM, move the plasma to the neutral tube, then freeze. [G1]

Get it to the lab
Shipping
- Label every tube with the patient's date of birth and the collection date. [G1]
- Put the frozen freezer brick and the biohazard bag(s) with the tubes inside the foam insulator. [G1]
- Enter the collection date at gdx.net/mygdx to get a confirmation code. Write it and the date on the activation card and put the card in the box. [G1]
- Seal the box in the FedEx bag and drop it at an authorized FedEx location. Ship Monday to Friday and avoid US holidays. [G1]
